In December 2020, Netflix released a beautiful series called Dash & Lily, which revolves around a notepad of letters between them that started from the shelves of the Strand Library, which I was very excited to visit when travelling to New York. After that I learned that it appeared in many films and series such as Remember Me 2010 by Robert Pattinson and 2009 Julia and Julie by Amy Adams and Meryl Streep.

تاريخ ستراند

بدأ بنجامين باس The Strand Bookstore ككشك لمجموعة كتبه الشخصية في 4th Avanue، حتى توسع، وانتقل إلى موقعه الحالي عند ساحة الاتحاد Union Square ..

على مر السنين، نمت شعبية المتجر وحجمه، وفي عام 1957، انتقل إلى موقعه الحالي في شارع برودواي والشارع الثاني عشر. اليوم، تغطي The Strand 18 ميلاً من الكتب، مع أكثر من 2.5 مليون عنوان في مخزونها.

Benjamin Bass began The Strand Bookstore as a kiosk for his book collection on 4th Avenue until it expanded, moving to its current location on Union Square.

Over the years, the store grew in popularity and size, and in 1957, it moved to its current location at Broadway and Twelfth Street. Today, The Strand covers 18 miles of books, with over 2.5 million titles in its inventory.

They have three branches in New York City, the main one at Union Square.

تبدأ رحلة المكتبة من الخارج حيث تحيط بها الكثير من الكتب.

The library’s journey begins from the outside, where it is surrounded by many books.

عندهم مقهى صغير ومطحنة قهوة في الطابق الأرضي اسمها بروكلين Brooklyn Roasting Company، عندهم ٣ مقاعد فقط، ويُسمح لكل شخص الجلوس لمدة ٣٠ دقيقة حتى يكون هناك فرصة لغيره.

They have a small coffee shop and coffee grinder on the ground floor called Brooklyn Roasting Company, they only have three seats, and each person is allowed to sit for 30 minutes, so there is a chance for others.

يتكون من ٣ طوابق ونصف، والموظفون يمكنهم مساعدتك في البحث عن الكتب التي تهمك، هناك أقسام أدبية مليئا بالروايات، وأقسام مختصة مثل الفنون ودراسات المرأة وريادة الأعمال والكثير غيرهم..بالإضافة إلى قسم للأطفال.

يستضيف المتجر أيضًا العديد من الأحداث والندوات ، حيث يمكن للزوار الالتقاء والتفاعل مع المؤلفين المفضلين لديهم.

It consists of 3 and a half floors, and the staff can help you search for books that interest you. There are literary sections full of novels and specialized areas such as arts, women’s studies, entrepreneurship, and many others..in addition to a section for children.

The store also hosts many events and seminars where visitors can meet and interact with their favourite’ authors.
